The Santa Fe Marshal’s Office has the primary responsibility of coordinating, conducting, or investigating the following:

  • Investigation of fires to determine origin and cause
  • Plan Reviews
  • Business Inspections
  • School Inspections
  • Day Care and Home Day Care Inspections
  • Foster Home Inspections
  • Life Safety Complaints

2018 NFPA 101 Life Safety Code 

The Santa Fe Marshal investigates fires for origin and cause, and is responsible for filing appropriate criminal charges that may arise from an investigation.  Fire prevention activities include business/commercial inspections, review of new building plans, and design approval of fire alarm and sprinkler systems. The Santa Fe Marshal’s Office also monitors fire lane parking violations, life safety violations and issues citations as warranted. Additions or alterations shall not be made to an existing building or structure that will cause the existing building or structure to be in violation of any provisions of the Fire code IFC 2012, IBC 2012 and NFPA Life Safety Code 2015 and all amendments and codes.

 

ONLINE PERMITTING THROUGH IWORQ EFFECTIVE MAY 3, 2021

The City of Santa Fe currently uses iWorQ to create an online permits and application portal. Click on the following link to submit applications for various permits, request inspections, to review the completed inspections, and to see where your development or permit is at in the permit process.
