1) Counseling: Individual, family, couple’s, and group counseling services are offered to assist individuals in resolving trauma, gaining insight into how life experiences impact one’s sense of self-worth, mood stability, and effectiveness in relationships.  Our counseling program strives to enhance your quality of life and to develop higher functioning home environments. All counseling services are scheduled with licensed, professional, clinicians who offer services for children as young as 4 years old, adolescents, adults, and the elderly. Our counselors are confidential, friendly, caring, and compassionate. We also have access to various other organizations, agencies, and mental health specialists. We are happy to provide referrals as needed.

2) Family Reconciliation & Intervention Mediation: Mediation is a forum in which the neutral mediator facilitates communication between parties to promote reconciliation, settlement, and/or understanding between them. Mediation tends to speed up crisis stabilization and effectively identifies issues that couples/families need to address. Mediation adds structure to the process and prevents the circular arguing that can occur in traditional counseling without this structured process. Mediation promotes reconciliation and creates a written plan of action to save marriages and family relationships. Other types of mediation include, Community Mediation, Divorce/Custody                Mediation, Eldercare Mediation, Workplace Mediation, and Ministry Assistance Program.

3) School-Based Counseling and Therapeutic Supportive Services: We have counselors placed in SFISD schools who work directly with the school counselors and teachers to identify students in need of counseling or therapeutic support offered on campus during school hours.  Counseling services are also available to school administrators and teachers.

4) Community Outreach & Education: The SFRC offers a variety of psycho-educational trainings and classes to build interpersonal and social skills. We provide presentations to any organization on the services offered by the SFRC (5-20 minutes) and/or on ‘The Impact of Trauma on the Individual, Family & Workplace’ (2-hrs for all of these areas or we can present them separately in smaller segments). This class does not only provide a review of symptoms, but also how to recognize struggles in others, and how to intervene and recover from these symptoms.

'Building Better Relationships’ trainings for families, churches, and the workplace are offered on a regular basis throughout each month, because family conflict is a symptom of trauma that most of us will not connect with an event in the past. These are also skills we all need even if we have no trauma! This course provides skills for healthy communication and conflict resolution. These are skills needed for success in every aspect of life. Good communication helps families resolve the conflicts that are bound to happen. Many of the conflicts that arise are because of misunderstandings, rather than because of real differences. If families do not communicate well, problems do not get resolved, and often get worse. If your family does not have the skills to hold constructive family meetings, or resolve repetitive conflicts, this class can enable you to do so—not only preserving relationships but improving them! We can also provide classes on request, such as ‘Parenting Without A License’, ‘How to Monitor My Child’s Safety in Social Media’, ‘Prevention & Intervention in Suicidal Tendencies’, ‘Getting a Struggling Loved One to Treatment’, ‘Getting To Forgiveness & Freedom from Hatred & Bitterness’, and any other topic the community would like to request. We will hold these presentations and trainings at the SFRC or within your church, workplace or association meetings.

5) Therapeutic & Support Group: Groups are intended to provide a safe space for people to process feelings about various life issues and to receive emotional, social, and practical support. Support groups aim to promote resiliency, self-awareness, understanding of others, development of coping strategies, and healing. These groups are led by specialized, licensed, counselors.  We strive to offer groups to address the needs of the community.

6) Forgiveness Intervention: This intervention allows individuals to access the power within their faith to let go of anger, feelings of revenge, and unhappiness. Letting go of these feelings frees us from burden, bitterness, resentment, and traumatic stress. We offer a structured forgiveness process to assist you with this goal between family members, even if it seems impossible. We never push anyone to do this unless it is something our client feels they need. It is not possible until you are ready, but if you want to get there, we can guide you through some preparatory steps as well.
